About

Welcome to TBLSPOON.

Hi, I’m Sarah Marks, professionally trained home-baker in Temecula Wine Country. I started this blog in January of 2020, with the goal of inspiring you to try baking & dessert recipes that you might not have considered attempting before. With step-by-step instructions, visuals, and tips for success, I’m here to cheer you on and tempt you with creative, mouth-watering recipes. My blog is newish and small, but I’m adding new recipes every month.

About the recipes.

I share my own recipes on TBLSPOON, but I also write about some of the best recipes that I’ve discovered on the web, and my experience making them. In these posts, I give tips that I wish I had when trying the recipe for the first time, but mostly I’m writing about them because I loved the end result and want you to try them too!

Something for everyone.

I’ve tagged each recipe Easy, Moderate, or Advanced. If you search by those terms you’ll discover recipes that fit your time and skill level.

About me.

When I’m not in the kitchen, I love visiting California wineries and hiking trails, going to concerts and the theater, and exploring new places with my husband Dan. (You’ll see him credited with many of the photos on this blog.) I’m originally from Maryland, but I’ve been on the west coast for over 20 years so I think you can call me a California girl at this point. I lived in Los Angeles before we moved to Temecula. I’m a professional web & mobile app designer and trained baker. I have a Masters in Fine Art from the University of Michigan and I proudly earned a Master Baking certificate from Chef Eric Crowley’s culinary classroom.

And of course I love baking. I love the creativity, the challenge, the mystery, and the wonderful smells. I love the endless riffs you can take on a recipe to make it your own. And I love the joy the final product brings to others, whether it’s a sinful chocolaty treat or fresh-out-of-the-oven homemade bread.
